John Keating of Breaking the Ice fame comes back for his second guest comic for Inanimate! You might remember his first one, here’s to hoping he decides to do more!

John Keating of the amazing comic Breaking The Ice delivers this awesome guest comic. He actually did two Inanimate guest comics, the other I will post next month some time.

If you haven’t yet you really should check out Breaking The Ice. John does something I wish I could do on a consistent basis, be funny. I think it might help that he is a stand up comic, while I am a lay down comic, but whose counting.

He recently passed the 100 comics landmark and still keeps his stride up with something I thought was impossible to do this late int he game, make a funny twitter comic.

Is it uncool to do a Guest comics for yourself? I really don’t know as I don’t follow ANY of the general rules for making comics. 6 comics until y2cl#600. What will you be doing on that day?

That’s right, I got Michael from Starship Moonhawk to do a guest comic for me! That’s how awesome I am. A guy who claims he doesn’t DO guest comics, and would you look at this right here, he did one for me.

Why did he do one for me? Well that’s because I’m awesome (read persistent) and bugged him until he gave in.

As per tradition when someone does an Inanimate Guest Comics I write up a little review about their comic. I first encountered Starship Moonhawk a little over a year ago when I was a member of COTM with Michael. I started loosely following the series, and it’s sidebar projects, ever since.

Now I’m not a Moonhawkian expert by any means, just a casual observer, BUT I can tell you that you won’t find a series out there quite like this one. Where else do you get a series that has rebooted (I think) 4 times? That has such a rich back story and history set into it? And all for free on the internet? You can’t.

The bottom line is if you like Sci-Fi, cat girls, and a good story check out Starship Moonhawk.

If you are reading Inanimate then you should know I have an affliction for Elderly Apple. The whole REASON behind this sub-comic was I saw what Andrew and EAG where doing over at Elderly Apple and wanted to create something similar. Where as Inanimate is not as imaginative as Elderly Apple, it is pretty much in honor of Elderly Apple.

Take this gem for instance:

Elderly Apple is like a walk back to a time when ideas could be anything and everything spewed imagination. It is more then a web-comic. It’s a source of inspiration within it’s self. I read this time travel idea machine once a week to remind myself that there still are people who let their inner imagination out.

Without Elderly Apple there would be no Inanimate. My proverbial hat is off to Andrew Schonrr and The Elderly Apple guy for all their hard work.

Today’s guest comic comes from the ever talented Joe Garcia over at For The Reels. For The Reels is a constant hit for any movie fan. Personally I consider myself a movie buff, with owning over 500 DVDs and a smattering of Blu-Rays. Why did I tell you that? Well just to point out how much I TRULY love this comic.

What do they do to make the funny? They parody classic scenes from classic movies (and a few not so classic ones). They take the movies they like, they take the scenes and lines where everyone says that dirty joke in their head, and then craft comic imagery out of it.

Gun to my head on a scale of 1 to 10 what would I rate For The Reels? I would give it an 8. Why? This comic is funny, 100% golden funny. Leaps and bounds funnier then I am. ‘Then why not a 10!’ you ask? Because this comic will not appeal to everyone. For example, my wife doesn’t get a lot of them cause she hasn’t seen the movies. My love for movies and parody makes For The Reels on of my favorite comics that is one of the first I share with people. I give it an 8 on the factor that it’s not for everyone, but the ones who it’s for will LOVE IT!

Bottom Line? If you love movies, For The Reels is your cup of tea. If you don’t love movies, got he the fuck away.
